"Our football players are nice guys," she said. "And for a guy to be told to do something like that . . . I really think they're going to flip" when they find out what the banner said.
One player who did notice the banner was Chargers wide receiver Tyler Holden.
"I saw it as I was coming out," Holden said. "I was trying to interpret it. . . . I spoke to the cheerleaders about it after the game, and they did not mean it in a sexually derogatory manner. They were embarrassed."
The banner, Lacy said, was not a reflection of the school or of the team. "It's a reflection of those three girls."
